About Writing With Clarity

The Writing With Clarity workshops are personalized, interactive sessions where business professionals gain fresh insight and writing techniques that will make their writing more engaging and impressive to readers. They sharpen old skills, learn new ones, and learn how to handle the frustrating challenges that writers face each day.

The workshop format varies depending on group size and the desired length of the session. We work with the client to design a program that is tailored to the group. The group workshop is half a day or a full day, and that can be followed by a day of one-on-one coaching where Ken discusses writing samples that the person submitted in advance for editing. It is a chance for people to see how the principles that we discussed as a group can be applied to their own work.

Each person receives a notebook containing examples, exercises, and tip sheets.

After 21 years in daily journalism, including 12 years with the Associated Press, Ken starting Writing With Clarity in 1994. He has been a guest speaker at the American Press Institute, and he has presented at the IABC and PRSA international conferences. His new book, Perfect Phrases for Business Letters, was published by McGraw-Hill and is available at bookstores and at the online site Amazon.com.

You can read an interview with Ken by Mary Ellen Godin of the Record Journal in Meriden, Conn. The article discusses the problem of jargon and buzzwords in business writing.
